Privacy policy
The short version: Weddli collects the minimum it needs to run a directory, never sells your data, and deletes it on request.
Who we are
Weddli operates a directory of wedding vendors in the United States at weddli.io. This policy explains what we collect from visitors, couples and listed businesses, and what we do with it.
What we collect
If you only browse
You can search the directory, open vendor profiles and use the planning tools without an account. We do not require you to identify yourself and we do not run advertising trackers. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, page requested, timestamp, user agent) for security and abuse prevention, and we measure how the site is used - see Analytics below.
If you create an account
- Your email address and a securely hashed password, handled by our authentication provider - we never see the plain password.
- An optional display name and avatar.
- Reviews you write, listings you submit, and claims you make.
If you submit or claim a listing
The business information you provide - name, description, address, contact details, photos and opening hours - is published on the site. Do not enter anything you are not happy to make public. The email address tied to your account stays private.
If you contact us
Your name, email address, chosen topic and message are stored so we can reply and keep a record of the issue. Nothing more.
Planning tools
The budget calculator and planning checklist run entirely in your browser. Whatever you type into them is saved in your own device's local storage and is never transmitted to us.
Why we are allowed to hold it
- Contract - to give you the account, listing or reply you asked for.
- Legitimate interests - to keep the directory accurate, prevent spam and fake reviews, and secure the service.
- Consent - where you have opted in, for example to email updates. You can withdraw it at any time.
Analytics
We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how people actually use the directory - which pages get opened, where visitors get stuck, and what they click. Clarity does this by recording a playback of your visit: the pages you view, your mouse movement, scrolling and clicks. What you type into form fields is masked before anything leaves your browser, and the pages themselves are the public directory pages anyone can see.
We deliberately switch Clarity off on the sign-in, dashboard and moderation pages, so account and business information is never part of a recording. Microsoft processes this data as described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement. If you would rather not be included, switching on your browser's “Do Not Track” setting or blocking clarity.ms stops it, and nothing on the site breaks.
Cookies
We set a session cookie when you sign in, and store your light/dark theme preference locally. Microsoft Clarity sets its own cookies to tell one visit from the next. There are no advertising cookies on this site, and we do not run cross-site ad tracking.
Who else sees your data
We do not sell personal data and we do not pass your contact details to lead brokers. We share data only with the service providers that run the site on our behalf - our hosting platform, our database, storage and authentication provider, and Microsoft for the analytics described above - and only so far as they need it to operate the service. Where required, we will disclose information to comply with the law.
How long we keep it
- Account data - until you delete your account.
- Published reviews and listings - until you or we remove them.
- Contact messages - up to 24 months, then deleted.
- Server logs - a short rolling window held by our host.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or export it. Residents of the EEA and UK have these rights under the GDPR; California residents have equivalent rights under the CCPA, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. Since we do not sell personal information, there is nothing to opt out of - but you can still ask us to erase what we hold.
Send any request through the contact form and we will action it within 30 days.
Children
The site is not intended for anyone under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us information, tell us and we will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change affects registered users, notify them by email.
